Sick and Wrong.

So here I am just 9 weeks post-partum.

Finally starting to feel good about myself again.

And guess who decides to pop in for a visit?

Unannounced.

Aunt Flo.

She is mean, spiteful and unwelcome.

Arrrghhhh!

Quotes from the 2nd Grade.

"Why do girls talk so much more than boys?"

"I played with GM the first recess. The second recess I just couldn't find anybody."

"But Mom, all I was hungry for was cookies."

"Today was great. Mrs. B didn't expect anything out of me!"

"This is the year that I have been excited for."

"Give Wingman 100 hugs, 100 kisses and tell him that I love him."

"One boy got sick, one boy got in trouble and one boy doesn't care."

"I don't know what this picture means. She told me to draw, so I drew."

"There are alot of rules in the 2nd grade."

"OK. I will wear the plaid shorts but NOT the collared shirt."

"Tomorrow, I want a dollar to buy Gatorade."

All in all, it was a good day! I am so proud of Z and I know this will be a great year.

Second.

We are having a blast with our little Wingman. This month the rewards are great, especially this smile!

And this laugh!

Seeing my oldest love the youngest, melts me.

Inseperable.

Our baby doll.

For me, the greatest is the five of us.

He completes us.

Janelle is...

...still in her jammies.

...wondering if a 30 minute time-out is too long.

...listening to her baby squeak.

...counting down the time until Skip takes Z-man to the new Star Wars movie.

...needing to make lunch for her hungry kids.

...glad the dishes are done.

...feeling guilty that summer is almost over and what does she have to show for it?

...about to fold the laundry.

...loving the cooler temperatures.

...eating carrots and dip and loving the CRUNCH!

...seriously confused why it takes all day to pick up the house and .5 seconds to destroy it.

...going to be proactive next year and just plant weeds and dead flowers.

...ready for Wingman to get into a nap routine.

...jealous of Loulabelle's curly hair.

...needing some more energy.

...wishing she could transfer her "baby fat" to the actual baby.

...tired of settling arguments.

...so over beach volleyball.

...missing Jim, Pam, Dwight, Michael and Andy.

...wasting time on this dang computer.

...listening to her baby's squeaks turn into cries.

...saying goodbye!

Complaint Department.

"Dearest" Tooth Fairy,

I am writing (again) to complain about your lack of customer service. In the past, we have had our issues with your repeated tardiness and your lack of correct fundage. I have strived to move past some of our previous issues to foster a healthy relationship for our child. But this time, young lady, you have gone too far. I don't know if I will ever be able to forgive you of this latest hoax.

She is just a baby! What were you thinking?

I am barely able to tolerate your liberties with Z-man. You come and you take leaving only minor compensation for our loss. I am afraid if this continues we may have to sever ties completely with your fairyness.

Please consider this your final warning.

I guess all could be forgiven if you see to it that they both lose their two front teeth before Christmas. If I could attain a cute Christmas picture, I might be able to put our rocky history behind me, once and for all.

Sincerely,

Mom Whose Kids Are Growing Up Way Too Fast

P.S. At least she's cute!

How old is yours?

A sweet, sweet friend gave me a starter of Amish Friendship Bread. She was lamenting about how her bread doesn't seem to rise as well as her neighbor's. I thought her problem might be related to her baking powder.

She went to her pantry to check the expiration of her powder. May 1996!! After a good laugh, I decided to check mine before I ruined this yummy bread.

JUNE 1997.

Eleven years ago we were moving home from Texas to start our careers. We had been married for 1 year and 7 months. We were 4 years from the birth of our first child.

Bill Clinton was President and relatively scandal-free. I just had surgery to remove my spleen and was recouping in our new house.

I weighed a good 20 pounds less than what I do now, and my skinny jeans were just that. I could eat what I wanted and it didn't seem to matter. Skip and I could also go to movies on a whim and I read about 5 books per week.

We just got our second dog and they were our babies. Life was devoted to making them happy.

Eleven years. So many years, so little need for baking powder.

I am dying of curiosity. How old is your baking powder?

Really. Go check.
