I will always remember where I was when I got the call. The call that Big Mama had just commented on my blog. I was sitting in Dixie's living room (Big Mama if you are out there, you have to read this, our friends have taken over her blog in the comment section because she refuses to write any new posts.) Anyway, back in the moment.
I was sitting on Dixie's couch when Skip called.
"You will never believe this, but Big Mama commented on your recent post."
"SHUT UP!?!"
"No, it's true. She did."
"I want to hear everything. Start at the beginning."
"That was the whole story."
"NO, I need details."
"I have no more details, that really was the whole story."
This is a defining moment. My date with the rich and famous. It was almost like the time Donny Osmond, as in Donny and Marie, was pitching a tent in his brother's back yard. His brother lived next door to Skip's sister. Five of us where smooshed up against her daughter's window to watch. He was wearing a white t-shirt and looked like he had the whole tent thang under control. My sister-in-law was the PRESIDENT OF HIS FAN CLUB and was practically drooling on the mini-blinds. I was impressed, but he wasn't my hero. He did look good, though.
Big Mama is a hero. I really think if she lived here or I lived there, we would be friends. We are practically kindred spirits anyway. She has a 3 year old daughter who takes swim lessons and I have a 3 year old daughter who takes swim lessons. She doesn't make her bed, I don't make my bed.
The similarities are uncanny.
