To Whom It May Concern...

Dear Cub Scouts International,

First of all, let me just say how excited we are to be part of your organization. We believe you stand for family values and character building in our youth. We look forward to several happy years together.

However, the tradition of sewing on the patches is a tad outdated. Let's move you into the new millennium with Iron-On patches. That would make this frazzled mommy super happy. Now, I will admit that I procrastinated and finally got around to the intricate sewing 1 hour before my son had to be at a Community Service project. But that is not really the issue. The issue remains that your organization would be better suited with Iron On patches. I hope that you will consider this matter with all seriousness.

On a positive note, the shirt is made with the finest of material. The right sleeve withstood being sewed together twice. After close inspection, I realized that my ripping...ahem, gentle seam removal warranted no damage to your product. Nicely done.

So if your organization is as sturdy as your shirts then we look forward to many meaningful years together. And I am sure this will not be the last time you hear from me.

Sincerely,
Frazzled Mom

PS...Are there rules against sewing on a purple patch with navy thread?

Dear Skip,

Yes, I agree with you that a sewing monkey would have done a better job. But since "sewing monkeys" are not readily available in our neck of the woods, I suggest you just say thank you.

With love and respect,
Your personal sewing monkey

Dear Pack Mother,

Please know that Z is really excited about Cub Scouts. He is willing and able to do the work involved. Please excuse his tardiness at today's event. It was not his fault, nor mine. I am blaming Cub Scouts International for his lateness. I am working with them to correct any future problems by initiating Iron-On patch preparedness training.

Sincerely,
100% Committed Mom

"Sewing monkey" - just added to my Christmas list!

You made me laugh out loud!

Seriously?

You have to sew the patches on?

You could start a business sewing patches...I'd rather have a sewing monkey do it than to do it myself. AND I'd probably pay a pretty penny for it.

Hahahahahahahahah! I'm just sitting here chuckling at the thought of you Patiently and Gently taking out the seams. I'm sure it looked a lot like sewing at my house! This was a great post Janelle, looks like you had some great inspiration!

LOL! I loved this! And I am amazed they don;t have iron on patches!! And because they don't have iron patches, I think you should ANY COLOR you want! Start a fad! And if I were Zs pack mother, I'd truly understand.

Haha!! Can you just buy the iron on strips from Wal-Mart maybe? That is hilarious, and what is it with men and monkeys??

When we were dating I asked Jamas what he would do if he won the lottery. He said he'd buy a super monkey. Nothing else, just a trained super monkey that would do everything for him. I guess I can't complain about him, I married him knowing that....

You are FUNNY! Are you sure that they won't iron on? AWANA patches are supposed to be sewn, but I iron them on...or I used to iron them on I should say.

I do know there is patch glue at Walmart. Sounds like you need to make a trip over there.

Just for this, I have a funny commercial I am going to post. You will love it.

Very cute! Though I think I have already decided Kai won't be joining Cub Scouts just for this reason....I have a hard enough time fixing a button. Do they have iron-on buttons?? Wait, I don't think I'm very good at the iron thing either....sigh....

No Cub Scouts for my son.

This is funny!

I was sewing with my 10 year old this weekend and cursing my 25 year old machine that has NEVER worked right. And I can't believe that I am old enough to have a machine that is a quarter of a century old. I just totally depressed myself. I guess I'll have to read your post again.
