Peer pressure works for me.

I am making my lists, checking them twice. And I'm realizing that I have forgotten some of the basics of baby-raising. Not the feeding and the diapering and the exhaustion part. Heaven knows a mommy never forgets that stuff.

I am talking about products. Baby products. Mommy must-haves. The essentials necessary to make life easier. It seems like they are always thinking up new ideas.

I would love to hear from you some of your all-time favorite baby or mommy products.

What is it that you can't/couldn't live without during the infant stage? Anything goes, from nursing b*a's to changing pads.

Really. Do tell....

Oh, by the way. 22 Days to go!!!

According to the way-too-close-and-slightly-creepy guy at the local Wal-Marts, "I am fixin to have this thing. Ain't I?"

Wow, your pregnancy has gone so fast to me! Can you believe that you're going to be holding your newborn here so soon! How wonderful! Unfortunately, the best baby item I discovered didn't become discovered by me until my 3rd baby. It's the Hooter Hider! I know, weird name...but, it was awesome! I loved having it while I nursed! Of course you know I loved my diaper bags too.

I loved the Lilly Pads in lieu of nursing pads.

I fear I am too far removed to help you. Ack. When did that happen?

I did give you my two cents on nursing bras, though...Bravado!

Super Duper Diaper Doo!

That stuff is AWESOME and it's made in Springfield!

Oh, and that dude at Wal-Mart TOTALLY creeps me out as well! I try to go by him fast so he can't give my kiddos stickers...but he always gets us!

You're in my prayers!!!!

The "ultimate crib sheet" is a MUST have! It fits on top of your pretty crib sheet, and you can just unsnap it (truth be told, we never even snapped ours after about the first week) and lift it off to wash. Changing a crib sheet on the crib mattress is torture for all...especially in the middle of the night.

"Swaddle me" for swaddling at night...SO much easier than using a blanket.

Baby Bjorn

those are off the top of my head...

Bouncy seat, my "nursing nellie", TCP sleepers-they zip up, Bedtime Lotion, Burt's Bee's diaper creme, and NUK paci's.

Wow 22 days really?! Seems like just yesterday you announced.

Ack! Those days are such a blur! I remember putting Desitin on my nipples one night (meant to put lansinoh on them) :)

You need a TiVo full of stuff for those late night feedings. I watched so many movies when I was nursing at night.

Oh- and don't forget hard liquor for the baby's gums to sooth teething. :) I read that in What to Expect When Expecting 1890.

Lansinoh saved me. I've loved my Boppy big time. An infant swing and/or seat for my sanity. Exersaucer when they get bigger. Can't go wrong with the basics.

What great suggestions!!! I would second these...Swaddling blankets are great, and you can get them at Target; Burts Bees Diaper Cream is THE BEST, and you can get it at Country Mart in the baby isle; Nursing Nellies are AWESOME :); I also love Bravado Nursing bras; I'm also a big fan of the TCP sleepers; Lanisoh is great too; and the Boppy, I got a cute new cover at Target with Austin; That crib sheet sounds awesome, and although I have no idea what Lily Pads are, their name makes them a must have!

I would also agree w/ all of your suggestions! I love my little diner table mat. It has suction cups on the bottom so Ruthie can't pull it off the table and a little try that collects all the dropped bits of food. Totally a life saver. I hate the germy tables when we go out to eat. No one mentioned a good cover for your high chairs/ grocery carts. I can't wait for Lil' Poppy pictures!! I'll be praying for you!! Glad you'll deliver before the real heat sets in... Ruthie's b-day is July 18th!

I have to say that my favorite ointmnet was and is Aquafor for Baby. It's awesome. I use it on everything. From bottoms to windburned cheeks and chapped lips. It's also great for mom. It's really gentle and doesn't have the medicine smell.

Looks like you have diaper cream recommendations out the wazoo, but I have to throw in my fave... Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Awesome stuff!

And if I were having a boy this time, I'd be sure to stock up on these...

My baby is already 1, and I can hardly remember the products myself. We moved soon after he was born so much is a blur. But I love those swaddle swings for infants. Also, in my opinion, Pampers went down hill...Huggies Surpreme seem to be the best diapers, but they are expensive. I've found the White Cloud at Wal Mart and the generic brand a Babies/Toys R Us diapers are good too. Best wishes to you. How exciting.

bumkins bibs are awesome, really awesome!!! also miracleblanket.com has he most awesome blanket, i love huggies diapers,a dn costco baby wipes and advent bottles. i love babies!!!!

I ditto everything. Loved the swaddling blanket. It works!

I used pampers the whole first year, but now am using luvs. They are much cheaper and they work just as well.

The other thing that saved me....Enfamil.

However, I have the stomach to prove it.

Sure love you!

Here are my must haves:

Aquaphor. We have the giant tub size.

Swaddle Designs swaddle blanket. We went through a half dozen before finding this soft, lightweight, simple blanket. The important things are that it is the right size (big!) and that it doesn't have any "give" so Nicknack didn't squirm out of his swaddle like with those velcro numbers.

Burt's Bees Baby Wash/Shampoo and/or Aubrey Organic Baby Wash. Both available on Amazon, if not in your area.

I also got so much use out of those little flannel Gerber cloth diapers - especially as changing pad protectors so I didn't have to constantly wash the changing pad cover. Also those all-purpose pads about the size of a changing pad, which are great for diaper changes on the go and also to protect sheets (I put them under the fitted crib sheet).

We also love those black and white board books for newborns (black on white, for example), but that is hardly a must have.

Finally, before the belly button came off Nicholas lived in those long sleeve kimono style tees with the built-in mittens. After that it was all about the long sleeved onesie. He never wore short-sleeved. Even though it was summer, the a/c was on.

Sorry for the long list, but this stuff is on my mind, too!

My only suggestion is to cook and freeze many, many casseroles and meals now, before the baby comes. Then on the hard I've-been-doing-nothing-but-nursing days, you can just stick one of those in the oven and call it dinner.

Okay, I'm a bit late in replying here... but we bought a battery operated swing after Keilani was 3 weeks old. I wish I would have had that when she was 1 week old. SHE LOVED IT!! It was a must have for us.

Okay, some of these have already been mentioned, but here are my must-haves.

1. Boppy pillow + Lansinoh for "the girls" = happy Mommy

2. At Target, I got a nursing tank top. It was great for sleeping in.

3. Aquaphor for faces and bottoms. Triple Paste for really bad diaper rashes - my youngest had some BAD diaper rash & this is what worked for her. Hopefully, your little one won't need it.

4. Baby Bjorn - I used this SO much more with baby #2 than with #1 b/c I needed my hands free when we were out and about.

Good Luck & Congratulations!

p.s. found you from life with the wisners.
